Abstract or goal of lesson:

Students will divide the different foods in their lunch by 3 categories: Sweet, Sour or Salty. The teacher will aid in entering the data on a chart first, and then program this data into MS Excel to make 3- dimensional colorful chart.

Activities:

  1. Students will divide their lunch items into 3 categories. Students buying lunch at school that day will use the menu items. Sweet, sour and salty foods will be counted and graphed on a large chart.

  2. Students count the sweet, sour or salty items in their lunches and fill in the chart using markers or crayons

  3. The teacher will key the data from the chart into Excel and create a colorful multi-dimensional chart.  Teacher may use the attached Excel spreadsheet and chart and enter new numbers for each category for the number of sweet, sour, and salty things in the students lunches on the day of the lesson.
